Investing in Whangārei: Latest Round of ‘We Can Help With That’ Community Funding Closes

That is why we are thrilled to announce that the latest round of our We Can Help With That community fund has officially closed, with a diverse group of local legends set to receive the support they need to make a difference in Northland.

Unlike large-scale national foundations, We Can Help With That is a locally-driven initiative. It was born from our desire to move beyond traditional real estate and invest directly in the People, Participation, and Places that make our district unique. From grassroots sports to essential health services, this round’s recipients embody the spirit of Whangārei.

Supporting the Heart of Whangārei: Meet the Latest Recipients

This round, our funding is reaching into every corner of our community. We are incredibly proud to back these five outstanding initiatives:

• Manaia View School: Supporting the Tāku Putea Kai / My Food Bag project, teaching Year 8 students vital cooking and budgeting skills while fostering family connections over healthy meals.
• Cancer Society Northland: Providing essential food vouchers for local cancer patients facing financial hardship, ensuring they can focus on recovery without the stress of basic needs.
• Kokopu School: Funding the Positive Puberty Programme, an expert-led initiative that empowers our rangatahi and their whānau with the confidence to navigate the journey of growing up.
• Lexi Hati (Junior Gymnast): Helping a 15-year-old local star represent New Zealand on the international stage at the Queensland State Champs – the only gymnast from Northland selected for the team!
• Volunteering Northland: Sponsoring a Red Cross First Aid workshop to equip local volunteers with life-saving skills, keeping our community groups safe and compliant.
