Whangarei’s favourite workplace run/walk event, the Ray White Hatea Loop Challenge, is an annual event run by Sport Northland Events and celebrates the Hatea Loop Walk/Cycleway (Huarahi o te Whai) and Workplace Health.
The 4.8km run/walk event is designed for workplaces to have fun, participate and challenge one another in a fun, festive and social atmosphere. Following the event teams gather for a relaxing barbecue to celebrate their achievements and socialise with live entertainment. To participate in the Ray White Hatea Loop Challenge you have to enter as part of a workplace team. There are a range of industry categories in which you can enter to challenge fellow workplaces and departments – plus a special category for the ‘Big Bosses’. To be eligible for entry you must enter through a registered workplace. Participants must be employed by the workplace or be an immediate family of an employee. Teams can be made up of 3 or more employees/immediate family members, and must be 14 years and older. The total team price is the total of all individual entries for that workplace team. Close to 700 participants representing 48 workplaces from across Northland, hit the pavement in the seventh annual Ray White Hatea Loop Challenge on Friday 10 February 2023, after several weather and Covid-related postponements. The event saw a colourful array of competitors competing against each other with smiles all round! Trophies were handed out for both the Industry Award winners and for the Fastest Individual and Team division. Congratulations to you all! – This years’ winners were:
